Transformational leadership focuses on generating relationships that enchance the motivation and ethicality of the follower and leaders. Throughout history, various models and approaches to transformational leadership that illustrate the theory differently. Bass’s approach to transformational leadership elaborates on four factors that embody a transformational leader. A transformational leader must establish a commitment to the goal by the followers, build their connection to the objective, inspire self- motivation, and individualized their influence on the followers (Northouse,2018). In the bank environment, leaders often use transformational leadership to establish the “one team” value. Individualized consideration and inspirational motivation is a factor my manager utilize consistently, especially during the pandemic. It impacted us all in different ways and required us to change how completely we function in the bank and our lives. My leader uses individualized meetings to offer support and encouragement to each member of the staff. During these meetings, she enables us to implement a vision that inspired us to perform and fulfill the organization’s objectives. It allows her to establish a personal relationship with each of us that motivated us to strive to achieve goals during a tough time. Transformational leaders generate a more effective relationship with their followers, allowing them to improve and enchance the organization.
Transactional and transformational leadership have different theories on how to influence the performance and behavior of followers. A transformational leader focuses on performing their role effectively to build their relationship and commitment with their followers. If a transformational leader implements a significant change, they will use a vision to show their followers how the change will benefit them and the organization. They would also allow their employees to provide feedback to help make the plan more efficient. In contrast, transactional leaders use rewards and punishments to generate motivation within their members. When a transactional leader implements a significant change, they will use incentives to motivate their followers to commit to the goal.
